Remote Control Mower for Solar Farms: What to Measure First

A solar site has two separate jobs: open lanes and areas beneath or beside modules. Measure both before assigning a mower.

01 / Measure clearance through the full row

Panel height at one point is not the lowest obstacle.

Record minimum vertical clearance beneath the panel edge and throughout the intended path, including any tracker positions. Measure between posts, cable trays, junction boxes, fencing and drainage features. Mark both the straight lane and the space to turn at its end. Check where the operator can see the machine without entering a hazard area.

The catalog lists the H-550L-A body at 930 × 900 × 550 mm, the H-800L-A at 1100 × 1210 × 600 mm, and the H-1200L Tank at 1630 × 1600 × 650 mm. These are machine dimensions, not certified under-panel clearances. Protrusions, cutting configuration, terrain changes and the site's required clearance margin must be checked against current drawings and a supervised field demonstration.

02 / Separate the mowing zones

Do not choose one machine from the open-lane width alone.

Divide the site into accessible lanes, panel edges, fence lines, drainage banks and areas that require another method. A 550 mm cut may be easier to shortlist for constrained access; an 800 or 1200 mm model may be considered for broad lanes where the full machine and turning route fit. Cutting width is not the overall outside width.

Describe whether the job is maintained grass, tall weeds or rough regrowth. The flail range offers a different cutting head, but a flail's larger machine envelope and debris behavior must be assessed near panels and cables. Do not assume any listed ZHUOJIE model can work beneath a particular array until the route and equipment are verified.

What belongs in a solar-site contractor brief?

Provide the site’s vegetation specification, permitted working times, seasonal growth pattern and the zones that require another method. Record panel-tracker positions and any access changes during the intended work period. Requirements should come from the site operator, whether the project is in North America, Europe, Oceania or another region.

Ask the proposed configuration to be reviewed against that brief before booking a demonstration. Confirm the required documents and operator handover language with the project owner. A mower’s low catalog height alone does not establish an approved method for working below panels.

03 / Review ground and equipment risk

Vegetation control near electrical equipment needs a site plan.

Record wet or loose soil, ruts, the steepest bank, buried cables, above-ground conduits and any stones or debris. Review exclusion zones and isolation or maintenance procedures with the site operator. A published slope rating or remote-control distance cannot establish clearance from electrical hardware or guarantee traction on a given surface.

Ask for the model's current manual, a detailed dimension drawing and footage of a comparable operation. If the requirement includes work beneath low modules, arrange a supervised on-site fit and operating demonstration before specifying the model.

04 / Put the measurements into the inquiry

A photo and a dimensioned route make the question answerable.

  • Lowest panel-edge clearance and range of tracker positions, if applicable.
  • Minimum post spacing, lane width and headland turning space.
  • Vegetation, slope, surface, drainage, cables and nearby equipment.
  • Which zones need mowing, quantity, destination and required site documents.
