Identify the machine before judging the performance.
Start with the model code and configuration. Ask for the identification plate, cutting assembly, engine and controller to be shown clearly. A shared body colour or similar-looking chassis does not prove that the video shows the quoted variant. Engine, cutting width, drive and attachments can vary between machines that look alike.
For example, the website lists H-800L-A and H-800L-D as distinct 800 mm models. Their shared cutting width is not a reason to transfer one variant’s published range or slope rating to the other. Request the model sheet alongside the footage, and match the identifiers with the written offer.
A machine walkaround and an operating demonstration answer different questions. The walkaround helps identify equipment and its condition. A work clip helps describe what happened in a particular setting. Ask for both when the configuration is an important purchase condition.
Separate what the clip shows from what it does not.
| What you can observe | What still needs evidence |
|---|---|
| A machine moving through vegetation | Exact vegetation, cutting height, area covered and the model’s approved cutting limits. |
| A visible cut strip | Measured mowing output, finish across the whole area and interruptions outside the clip. |
| Travel on inclined ground | Measured slope, surface condition, direction of travel and applicable operating guidance. |
| Operation at a distance | Measured separation, visibility, interference conditions and the configured control system. |
| A similar product appearance | Exact model, fitted options, identification details and whether it matches your order. |
Our field mowing video library includes clips organised by scene. The tree-row clip and sloped-grass clip can help you describe the kind of work you need to discuss. They are visual references, not controlled trials establishing every catalog specification.
Ask for comparable conditions, not simply a steeper bank.
Tell the supplier what matters on your site: regular grass or dense weeds, soil condition, ruts and stones, access clearance, turns, overhead obstacles and the intended finish. Record the steepest section and its measurement unit. A slope photograph alone can distort the angle and does not describe traction or the travel direction.
If the job is in rows, ask to see entry, turning space and the exit route rather than only a straight pass. If transport is a constraint, request a loading discussion using the actual weight and dimensions. A wider deck on an open field may be a poor comparison for a narrow orchard route.
Request footage using the machine under its documented operating procedure. Do not ask someone to exceed a published limit or remove guards to make a more dramatic demonstration. The goal is evidence for your purchase, not a stunt.
An uncut sequence makes the timing easier to understand.
For a productivity discussion, request a representative continuous sequence with a defined area and elapsed time. Ask which interruptions are included, whether the video has been sped up and what mowing speed was used. A clip of one successful pass cannot establish an all-day output figure.
Watch the finished strip as well as the machine. Ask whether another pass was needed, which cutting height was selected and whether the footage represents normal operating conditions. See the productivity planning guide to distinguish theoretical strip area from measured completed work.
Send a specific demonstration request.
- Exact model and options to identify in the walkaround.
- Vegetation, desired finish and cutting height to discuss.
- Measured slope and direction of travel for the relevant work section.
- Access width, turning space and any overhead clearance.
- Whether you need a visual reference or a measured area-and-time test.
- Manual, specification sheet and configuration details to accompany the footage.
Request footage for a named model
For example, request an H-800L-D demonstration. Change the model in the form if needed and describe your actual conditions. Include what you want the footage to verify.
Keep the video link, date, model sheet and written answers with the quote. Where the footage cannot establish a fact, leave it as a question to confirm before ordering rather than treating it as proof.
